CSTO and Winn Employees Volunteer at the Pine Street Inn
October 20, 2016
Last week, CSTO and Winn employees came together and volunteered at the Pine Street Inn’s 2016 Shoe Drive. The Shoe Drive takes place annually to provide those staying at the Inn with shoes for the colder months.
“My favorite moment was when a woman started screaming in excitement and gave me a hug, because I matched purple socks to her pocket book and her jacket,” said Kendra Hudson, Property Manager at Winn Companies.
Everyone received one pair of shoes and socks, and it was often hard to choose just one pair! CSTO and Winn employees arrived at around 11am, and were given a tour of the property before being brought upstairs to start the event.
“I had no idea that they had hundreds of full time employees, plus all of those volunteers,” said Kendra. “I did not realize their scope and outreach."
Sophia Mei, CSTO’s Square Roots Coordinator agreed, and added “As an adult with a full time job, it can be hard to find the time to do volunteer work, so I am very grateful for a job that allows me time to volunteer and give back. “
On the importance of volunteering at the Pine Street Inn, CSTO's Executive Assistant, Debbie Campbell said: "For me personally, I feel that the circumstances of the individuals we helped could happen to anyone- it could be my mother, my sister, my Aunt, or myself. And I would want to know that there was someone to help me." CSTO and Winn employees are happy to volunteer when needed!
