An Abacus is a calculating tool invented many centuries ago. Staff from Square Roots use this tool in their classrooms to help youth visualize numbers being added or subtracted. This tool has been useful teaching our younger students simple math. During our December vacation, our youth had the opportunity to create their own Abacus. Using beads, Popsicle sticks, skewer and pipe-cleaners our students used art to create a tool that will help them complete their math homework.
Students had a great time making the Abacus and can not wait to use it to help with their math assignments!
