Square Tech Training is a one to two year paid internship that provides innovative vocational training in the IT field to youth ages 14 through 18, who live in Castle Square Apartments and the surrounding neighborhoods. Youth develop workforce skills through a series of career and technical workshops. Square Tech Training supports personal and professional growth for our youth, and encourages them to thrive in their schools and the communities they serve.

Square Tech Training Year 1 is focused on IT basics and includes classes in computer networking, PC hardware, computer science and the business aspect of technology. Participants who successfully complete Year 1 will have the option of continuing to Year 2, which is focused on achieving COMPTIA A+ certification, a powerful industry-recognized credential.

While participants are learning, they also gain authentic work experience repairing computers and providing IT support through the Repair Center. Staffed by CSTO employees, and college student interns, the Repair Center offers consultation and diagnosis, computer services (data transfer, data backup, virus/malware removal, etc.), IT consulting for technology and community centers and at-home support for Castle Square residents.

CSTO’s Square Tech Teen Program operates in two cycles:

September – June

Days: Monday – Friday 

Hours: 4pm-6pm

 

Summer- 

July – August

Days: Monday – Friday

Hours: 11 am-4 pm

 

Closed on Boston Public School holidays
